The recent Children's Rights at a Cross-Roads conference gathered child rights and research experts from all across the world, representing a range of sectors involved in child rights related issues. One of the main conclusions of the conference was that there is need for a greater focus on indigenous research on children and their rights, carried out by researchers in national and local academic institutions.

The members of the Board of Childwatch International met for two days in Oslo this week, to decide on this year's plans and to lay out the final strategy for the coming child rights and research conference in Addis Ababa in November - December.

Childwatch International has a small budget which is managed according to the priorities set in the Aims and Ethos of the network and the periodic strategies approved by the Childwath International Board. A call for proposals is announced to the network partners once a year requesting applications for network activities for realizing the network's aims and strategies.

The CWI Board is responsible for implementing the strategies, policies and priorities set by the Key Institutions Assembly. The board for 2010 - 2013 was elected at the Key Institutions Assembly in Addis Ababa, 3 - 4 December 2009. The Board elected its President and Vice-Presidents at its first Board meeting in New York in April 2010.
