Usha S. Nayar

Professor and Deputy Director of the Tata Institute of Social Sciences, Mumbai, India.

She has been associated with the Childwatch International for the past 15 years and served its purpose in various capacities and also as a member of the Advisory Board and as Vice-President. During these years, her work has been in line with the Childwatch objectives to promote child research globally and especially in the developing countries, capacity building for child research, strengthen networking of organizations and to undertake locally relevant research.

Her academic credentials and scholarly achievements are indeed commendable as evident from the large number of research projects, publications, her association with various national and international agencies.

She has served many organizations and professional bodies in advisory capacity and significantly contributed to the policy making. She has been bestowed with awards and fellowships in recognition of her contributions to social science research and intervention.
Recent initiatives spearheaded by Prof. Usha S. Nayar have tremendously helped in building a professionally beneficial child research network in the Asia-Pacific region. Her efforts to strengthen child research in this region by building a team would in the coming years enhance the regional capacity in child research and advocacy.
