Digital Youth Symposium

The Digital Youth Symposium at the Science Gallery, Dublin on November 2nd (9.30 - 4.00pm) will be a major international research and policy event on children and the internet in Ireland. Keynote speakers from research, education and policy fields will debate: ·       Digital opportunities, digital literacy, inclusion and digital safety ·       Public and private sector support for educational and awareness raising initiatives ·       Ensuring digital strategy reflects best interests of children and young people

Speakers include: Sonia Livingstone (LSE, EU Kids Online), Jillian van Turnhout (Seanad Éireann), Simon Milner (Facebook), Elisabeth Staksrud (University of Oslo, EU Kids Online), Billy Hawkes (Data Protection Commissioner), Brian O'Neill (DIT, EU Kids Online), Eamon Ryan (Green Party), Alton Grizzle (UNESCO), Lynda Hawe (OECD), Francesc Pedró (UNESCO), Anne Looney (NCCA), Johnny Ryan (Irish Times).

The Symposium will be opened by the Minister for Children and Youth Affairs, Frances Fitzgerald, T.D.  Closing remarks will be given by the Minister for Communications, Energy and Natural Resources, Pat Rabbitte, T.D.


The symposium is aimed at a diverse audience of stakeholders including researchers, policy makers, industry leaders, educationalists and civil society groups.
