A case for early childhood development in sub-Saharan Africa: Working Papers 51

This Bernard Van Leer Foundation working paper explores the reasons behind a reduction in diversity connected with  the international image of children. Issues connected with child development are increasingly prominent across the world, but the international image of children is increasingly Western-derived. The authors conduct an overview of critiques in the international literature of early childhood development since the UN adoption of the CRC in 1989, and present a review of key developments in Africa since the early 1970s.
