The bulletin has information on the recent adoption by the UN Committee on the Rights of the Child of General Comment no. 16, on State obligations regarding the impact of the business sector on children's rights. This is the first time a UN human rights treaty body has addressed state obligations with respect to the private sector in a General Comment. The bulletin also has details on the World Child and Youth Forum, to be held in Stockholm on 22 March. Furthermore, it includes news on issues ranging from children’s rights and the internet, to child slavery in informal gold mines in Ghana; from companies’ parental leave policies in the USA to the adoption of an international treaty to prevent toxic mercury emissions, which are particularly harmful to children.
