ISS/IRC Monthly Review - No 171- The Waiting: A recurrent issue in adoption, and more...

This editorial is dedicated to the issue of the waiting period in the adoption process as well as the experience of an AAB accompanying the adoptive families in this context.

It also includes:

  • an update of the intercountry adoption reforms in Vietnam and of the presentation by ISS of the Guidelines to the African Committee on the Rights and Welfare of the Child;
  • a brief analysis of the judgment of the ECtHR on the access for same-sex couples to second parent adoption in Austria as well as the presentation of a Comparative Law Study of the French Senate dealing amongst others with this issue;
  • ISS/IRC travels to Russia where a recent law introduced the compulsory training of prospective adoptive parents.
